One of Mad 4 Marketing’s newest public relations clients, SKYei — a South Florida-based alternative energy solutions company that provides power to countries in Africa and the Caribbean — was recently profiled in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. That story has subsequently been picked up and published by Florida Trend Magazine.
DomesticFuel.com, a Florida-based blogging and podcasting company, has also recently posted their article on SKYei.
What piqued media interest was SKYei’s recently completed $5 million solar panel manufacturing facility in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Thanks to their work, residents of one of the most desolate regions on the planet are now able to generate their own affordable electricity. Essentially, our South Florida PR client is exporting some Sunshine State sustainable, scalable and environmentally friendly energy solutions to the Dark Continent.
With more than 20 years of energy-related international business experience, SKYei’s CEO, Roland “Mack” McLean not only qualifies as an energy expert, but he can offer candid insight to the unique cultural and legal challenges of doing business in Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America. All together, it’s making him an authority for the media.
Once the Mad 4 Marketing team conducted a Listen and Learn Discovery meeting with Mack and his other key SKYei stakeholders, we had a better understanding of their public relations goals and objectives. Then it was a matter of knowing the local media markets and conducting media research outside the region, determining which reporters’ expertise best matched our SKYei story angle.
It seems to be paying off, because he public relations work generated not only local buzz, but also interest on a national and international level. Felicity Carus, a U.K. journalist based in California specializing in clean energy policy and finance for a global audience has interviewed Mack, while both Forbes Magazine and Great Britain’s The Guardian Newspaper have expressed interest in interviewing Mad 4 Marketing’s PR client for future dissemination.
